Deep Memory Process or DMP® is a regression therapy
developed by Jungian Analyst, Dr. Roger Woolger that incorporates
a creative synthesis of active imagination, psychodrama,
and transpersonal psychologies. This unique blend
includes methods of Jung, Reich and various shamanic & spiritual
traditions and aids in bringing consciousness to painful
experiences that have become “charged” as psychological
complexes in the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual
bodies.

“A complex arises when
we suffer a defeat in life.”
Carl
Jung
|
Complex patterns are the result of an imprint on the soul
due to unresolved issues that have occurred sometime in the
past. They interfere with all levels of our lives and
affect relationships, including the one we have with ourselves. They
can sound like: “I’m all alone”, “I’ll
never be able to do it”, “They always leave me”, “I
don’t know what to do”, etc. They can also
manifest as unexplained symptoms in the physical body.
Deep exploration of the unconscious using DMP® brings
identification and understanding of original sources of
pain to those parts of us that have been affected by trauma. When
the blocked energy is uncovered and aspects of the trauma
are integrated on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual
levels, the soul can release the memory and healing can
occur. Awareness of thoughts, feelings and sensations
can then be brought into the conscious present day experience.
Deep Memory Process® may help in the
treatment of:
• Adult or childhood sexual abuse and other traumas
• Domestic violence
• Post-traumatic reactions to war, torture and devastating
lost
• Self-esteem and personal empowerment
• Interpersonal relationship difficulties
And it can help:
• Bring consciousness to core issues and complexes that
run your life
• Develop somatic awareness of deep memories to release
them from your body |

What Happens In A DMP Session? |
| |
Prior to the DMP® session, an interview is conducted
and a personal history is obtained to find out what recurring
issues are causing problems for the client. The interview
covers the lifespan of the client and touches on significant
events such as medical history, accidents, traumas, etc.
Once the issues are identified, and the DMP® process
is explained, the session can begin.
Deep Memory Process® is conducted by lying on the
mat or floor with eyes closed. The session is guided
by an experienced practitioner of the work who usually
sits on the floor next to the client.
After a short relaxation, regression begins and focus
is directed to the recent issue or presenting complaint. The
thoughts, images, feelings and physical sensations that
arise take the client into a memory of their past or a
story with a character is engaged using active imagination
in order to explore where blockages occur that are contributing
to what the client is currently experiencing.
By using active imagination
and psychodrama, the client is encouraged to experience the
story and its “charged” moments
as vividly as possible. In the intensity of these “charged” moments
a variety of physical sensations may occur that can aid
in spontaneous releasing of blocked energy associated with
the old trauma. The client is then encouraged to
take the character and the story to its completion. This
is a very important part of the process because the thoughts,
feelings and sensations during the trauma, become the complexes
that arise when we “experience a defeat in life”. The
character is then guided to resolve any complexes and to
make connections between the story and the current issues
that arise in the clients present day experience. Often,
a client will feel a shift in the presenting problem after
only one session. It is possible that several sessions
will be recommended to - or requested by - the client to
continue the healing process. |
