Soul-based
psychology is an approach that honors and supports both
our psychological and spiritual natures. The focus is on
integrating past experiences and creating future experiences
while maintaining a state of well-being. Because the soul
is included in the healing process, soul-based psychology
takes into account that working with just outer experiences
is not enough. We must learn ways to connect with our inner
life by including the soul in the healing process. This
way our whole self, both psychological and spiritual, becomes
integrated and balanced. The soul is able to shine through
our personalities and we can step into our bigger story
with a more authentic purpose in life.
There are many ways to approach soul-based psychology and so
all schools of psychological thought, and all spiritual traditions
are honored. Inner work might include expressions through the
curative arts, spiritual journaling, dream work, meditation,
Integrative Breathwork, Deep Memory Process and various other
methods that support the inner life of the psyche.
If you have experienced counseling in your life and if you
still feel a yearning towards something more, it may be your
soul calling you to deepen into your inner life. Including
the soul in the counseling process insures the honoring of
both our human and our divine natures, resulting in a more
holistic approach to healing.
