Welcome
Western Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy
WALETA is the newest certified police academy in the State of Arizona. Opened in October 2007, it is an AZ POST certified academy with an emphasis on academic learning in a paramilitary environment. Graduates are prepared for a strong and successful career in law enforcement.
WALETA accepts 24 recruits per 18-week class with 2 to 3 classes scheduled each year. The smaller class size provides a better opportunity for one-on-one instruction and class participation. Graduates become certified in horizontal gaze nystagmus (HGN) and the use of tasers.
WALETA provides catered meals for breakfast and lunch, new classroom equipment, a new automated pistol and rifle range, excellent administrative staff with a talented instructor pool (from numerous area agencies), and standardized physical fitness attire for purchase at the academy. The academy offers on-site dorm-style housing. |

WALETA is operated by the Western Arizona Law Enforcement Association (WALEA) which is comprised of 16 agencies
from Mohave, La Paz and Yuma counties. |
